If you don’t like your life just as it is, why would you continue to do the same things that have gotten you to exactly where you are today? It’s a fair question. You might not like it, and yet you continue to do the same things.
If you really wanted something different, then wouldn’t you do those things that would get you that something?
If you are on a boat in the ocean, and you can go any way, wouldn’t you set your course for the direction of the desired destination?
You probably say, “That’s a nice analogy, Nat, but….”
Let’s stop there.
Your “but…”
We need to look at your “but…”
It’s your “but..” that is getting in your way.
Your “but…” is all the reasons and stories for why you aren’t living the life you want to live or why you aren’t going for that heartfelt dream. We all have these stories. So what are yours?
These are your reasons. These are what keep you in your life as it is. These are the “buts…” that keep you in your comfort zone. You may be unhappy, stressed, bored, unfulfilled, and discontent in your comfort zone, but at least it is familiar. It gives you a sense of security, of control. If you were to do something different, that’s actually scary.
Not only is it scary to take that risk of doing something really different, but to get what you really want might challenge deeply held (limiting) beliefs and judgements of yourself, others, and the world.
Let’s take this a step deeper.
What is the version of you that would be required to live the life you want to live and pursue your heartfelt dreams?
How is that person different than the current version of you?
What qualities would that version of you be demonstrating?
Now what is stopping you from being that person? The answer to that is the big “but…” that we need to get to, because this is where the self-judgements and limiting self perceptions are hiding. This is where your love, compassion, and self-forgiveness are needed most so that you can let go of that limited (and false) version of yourself, and step into being the version of you that is necessary to be living your heartfelt dreams.
Once you know the person you would have to be in order to live your heartfelt dreams, then start letting go of those things that are not that person, your “buts…”, your hidden hurts and traumas that need to be healed, so that you can consciously change your limiting beliefs and perceptions.
That, my friends, is how you get to the greater you. The real you. The true you.
The paradox is that once you get to your true self, you won’t need anything else to be living your dream, because who you truly are is the dream you’ve been searching for. You’ve been looking out there in the world for it, and all along it is actually you.
You already are who you think you need to become, that person exists inside of you. You just need to recognize who you truly are.
And if you want help in being the most magnificent you, then reach out to me and let’s work. Be ready to work. Be ready to let go. Be ready to recognize your own goodness. Set a time here to discuss working together.
