Everything in our world revolves around love. The love we wish we had. The love we didn’t get but needed as children and what that means about our worthiness to be loved.

The search for romantic love, to find someone who learns all about our bad parts and good side and still loves us anyways…chooses us. The pain when that love is betrayed and what we take it to mean about ourselves. Are we unlovable? Are we not good enough to receive someone else’s love?

The search for a higher love. A God who made us and still loves us even in our error.

And the journey of loving ourselves. Truly loving even the dark parts of ourselves. The parts we have hidden. The parts we wish weren’t even part of us.

Forgiveness is the process of releasing the misinterpretations and misunderstandings that made you believe you are unworthy to be loved, that some part of you is unlovable. Self forgiveness is how you let go of the belief that something you have done or, even worse, something about who you are, is not lovable. To withhold your love from yourself is a terrible crime because it is a rejection of the authentic self, of who you truly are.
