During a recent Light Gathering (find out more here), I was observing as each person was speaking. I was watching how it seems to be a very human thing to believe that people, leaders, events, and situations, should be or happen in certain ways. That there is a good way and a bad way, and of course, each person believes that they know what the good and bad actually are. Even when we are acting “spiritual,” and thinking we are neutral, there is often still this underlying belief that filters out in different ways. If you listen closely, you can hear it in how people speak. It is the unspoken words that often are most revealing.
I really like the Benjamin Franklin quote to illustrate the paradox of being human: “for even if could conceive that I had completely overcome it [pride], I should probably be proud of my humility.”
