I was speaking to a lovely person recently, who was struggling with some health issues which were bringing up her own relationship to herself and her past.
She said, “I’m really hard on myself.”
She had realized that there was this negative belief inside that was holding her back that no matter how much she did, it would never be enough…that she would never be enough.
Sometimes the best thing you can do is to hold in the awareness that the other person is divine, and listen from that consciousness. Rather than telling them all the good things, or how they should see themselves, or how you see them, you can just listen to and acknowledge what they are communicating while holding the view of their divinity. When you listen from the awareness that they are divine, they can experience that resonance at a deep level. You look at their Soul, at their perfection, and let them awaken to their own divinity as they are ready.
You can’t force people into seeing their own goodness, that is something they must awaken to in their own timing. But you can have compassion, which means to be with (com-) the one who is suffering (-passion).
It is easy to get caught up in relating to all of your own inadequacies, limiting beliefs, and disturbances you have within yourself. As you focus on your inner growth, all those things that get in the way will come to the surface. It can be daunting at times, and a bit overwhelming, to really get in touch with the failings of the flesh - your ego self.
It is important to take time to focus on the goodness of you. It is important to recognize the aspect of you that is already whole, complete, and perfect. That is your Soul.
It isn’t very fun to always be picking on yourself for all of your shortcomings. That isn’t going to help you be better, and is only going to take you further away from the joy that is available to you.
