In a recent light gathering, I had a sharing with someone who was struggling with making better choices, and being caught up in internal unclarity and dilemmas around what the better choice actually is.
For this week’s newsletter, I’m going to share some parts of that sharing for your benefit because I think it can apply to a lot of people.
Nat:
Part of what you're asking is, is this karmically clear to do?
Participant:
Right, that was the other piece of it. Am I actually creating more karma by not fulfilling whatever it is to work out that makes me uncomfortable? Some people think that I should just stay in the uncomfortable place until I'm no longer uncomfortable. But I wouldn't go to a crack den and hang out with crack addicts. I wouldn't do that because I don't want to be around that. I guess I'm just trying to figure something out with that.
Nat:
Well, yes, it sounds like a dilemma.
The karma is really the learning process, right? And it sounds to me like the karma you’re dealing with is the unclarity inside of you about the question, “is it okay to do what I know is true, even if it upsets other people?”
Participant:
Yes. That's definitely the piece that I'm not clear about.
Nat:
Are others responsible for your feelings or you? Obviously, you are responsible for our own feelings. They are inside of you, so you are the one who has to live with them and to deal with them. If you are responsible for your feelings, then are you responsible for their feelings?
Participant:
The real answer is no. But am I living like that? No.
Nat:
It sounds to me like you know the answers, but you're fighting them inside of you.
It's been such an ingrained habit to make your decisions in this way. There's this thing inside that's been running you. It's been running you for a long time and yet you realize that it's out of sync with what you know is true inside of you.
Participant:
Yeah, I feel like my life would be a lot simpler if it was just easy for me to just choose what I want, and do that, and not feel bad if there's other casualties. That's the wrong word, but that's how it feels inside of me.
Nat:
The thing with dilemmas is that you really can't solve them in the area that you have the dilemma. You're not gonna solve it by figuring it out on that level. That's the nature of a dilemma. You have to go to the thing that's above it. You want to get in touch with the higher part of you. And in doing that, bringing the loving into it.
So you love yourself even with the dilemma and you love the part that's broken and is creating this dilemma, and you accept it.
It's an acceptance of “it’s okay the dilemma is here”, rather than fighting to try to change the dilemma.
You focus more on bringing in the Light and going towards the higher intention of the Light, of the loving. In going with that, you're going with what God wants for you. You're going with the higher part of you.
That can lift you out of the dilemma. Sometimes slowly, and sometimes it's just like the snap of your fingers and the karma gets lifted.
That can happen too. All of a sudden you're like, “wow! I don't feel all this drama inside. I can just make a choice. Wow, who would have thought that? I never would have thought that. This is amazing. I just feel light and okay.”
It can happen that way. But in the meantime, as this is one of those bigger life lessons in your life, keep your eyes on something higher. Keep your eyes on the Light.
It is that old biblical saying “Seek first the kingdom of God…” There's a truth in that of maintaining the higher focus because that's what lifts you above the dilemma.
