There are a lot of different places on this planet. Each has it’s uniqueness, and how you experience each place is also unique to you.
People will make long journeys to a place they think is holy. Whether that is Jerusalem, India, Mecca, the wilderness, or any number of places. Perhaps it was simply because they decided that place was holy that made them receptive enough to have that experience.

I’ve also had one of my more profound spiritual experiences in a dingy, crappy motel in an ordinary town in the southern United States. I didn’t have anything particularly spiritually profound occur in India, or many other places that people claim as “more spiritual”.
