Those things that are more important to you than your own wants, feelings, and thoughts, can shed light on your true intentions, values, and purpose. -Transcending by Nathaniel Sharratt
The seventh monthly focus is Intention.
This month, the focus is clarifying and deepening your experience of your true intention. I’m excited about this one because there is so much power in connecting with intention!
Below is how you can start implementing the monthly focus today.
First, we need to clarify some terminology so that we are on the same page.
What is an intention?
In the context that I am referring to, your intention:
already exists within you
is the highest motivating factor in your life
is the truth of your heart
is an inner experience that you can focus on in any situation
How can you find your intention?
For the purposes of this monthly focus, you are simply looking for a word or a few words that most closely resonates with your true intention (which may be difficult to put into words). The words point to the experience, and you don’t have to get them perfect right now, they just need to be a workable positive focus. It’s the direction, not the destination.
Here are some questions that you can contemplate in order to find some words that reflect the experience of your intention:
If you died today, and were to look back on the totality of your life, what would you want others to remember about you?
How would you describe in a word or two your inner experience of the most expansive, meaningful, and profound positive moments in your life?
In all the things you do, what is the experience that you are searching for?
If you found what you were truly looking for, what would you be experiencing inside of you?
Once you choose a few words, put them in an “I am…” statement. For instance, if loving is your intention then “I am loving,” or “I am experiencing loving,”or “I am living loving,” could all work. This will be your Intention Statement.
Using your Intention for the monthly focus:
Write your Intention Statement down (there is a space to write it on the tracking sheet provided below)
Every day, say your Intention Statement at least one time. You can use this intention statement like an affirmation throughout your day as a positive focus. The idea is to remind yourself of the higher truth. Use it, even when you really don’t feel it. It might not key you back into that experience immediately, but over time and with repetition you will train yourself to focus more and more on your higher intention which will deepen your experience. Remember, where you look, you go.
Track it on your tracking sheet (download below) when you do it at least once in a day. You will write intention statement in the left column of the tracking sheet, and then check off the box corresponding to the day of the month.
